About

Ola Olow

Ola Olow is a Polish artist and scientist based in San Francisco. She paints landscapes, city scenes, and imagined worlds in gouache, oil, drawing, and digital media.

Her subjects come from everyday walks, travel, photographs, and an interest in the natural world—from forests and coastlines to city streets and astronomical images.

She works in gouache, oil, drawing, and digital media, with an emphasis on color, observation, and the pleasure of making an image by hand.

How the paintings begin

Looking, mixing, painting.

A painting may start with a place Ola has visited, a view close to home, or an image from space. The subjects vary, but the process stays grounded in looking closely, mixing color, and finding the marks that fit the scene.
